Winter is coming... well, maybe not yet - it is beautiful in Cape Town right now - perfect autumn days - my favourite time of year! But I'm also so excited for the change of seasons - I'm definitely a winter girl.
So now, with all this talk about winter, here's a little collection of girls wearing nice coats!

On a lighter note (see what I did there? Getting all fancy with puns and stuff... hey now!) I snapped this pic this morning. Just a random collection of some of the things that help me to get that hair colour I love so much, yet also hate for the way I come out of the shower with a giant bird's nest on my head each morning...
I tried the Schwarzkopf Colour Mask in Pearl Blonde last month (I had my hair professionally highlighted in September and my roots were really getting out of hand) - I had read and watched some great reviews on this and decided to give it a try - and I'm still so happy with the results! This is honestly the only hair dye I've ever tried that has not gone brassy & yellow - the bluish-purple mask works so well, so when I saw it was on special at Clicks, I made sure to stock up with another one.
Then there's the trusty purple shampoos - key ingredients in fighting that brassy situation and maintaining a cooler, almost silvery blonde. I also love the Dove range of shampoos & conditioners & treatments for coloured hair and like to alternate my shampoo between the Dove & a purple variant.
The shower comb is actually more of a representation of my black Tangle Teezer - I honestly can't live without it, but it doesn't photograph very well!
So there you have it, some of my daily essentials in the haircare department!

I came across the work of Kevin Burg & Jamie Beck via A Cup of Jo this morning. Their work is amazing and I'm totally fascinated.

"Visual Graphics Artist Kevin Burg began experimenting with the .gif format in this style in 2009 but it wasn't until he partnered with photographer Jamie Beck to cover NYFW that Cinemagraphs were born. Marrying original content photography with the desire to communicate more to the viewer birthed the cinemagraph process. Starting in-camera, the artists take a traditional photograph and combine a living moment into the image through the isolated animation of multiple frames. To quote supermodel Coco Rocha "it's more than a photo but not quite a video".
Beck and Burg named the process "Cinemagraphs" for their cinematic quality while maintaining at its soul the principles of traditional photography. Launched virally through social media platforms Twitter and Tumblr, both the style of imagery and terminology has become a class of its own. The creative duo are looking forward to exploring future display technologies for gallery settings as well as pushing this new art form and communication process as the best way to capture a moment in time or create a true living portrait in our digital age while embracing our need to communicate visually and share instantly. Emily Faulstich of the insanely cool Hawaiian Coconut is one of my favourite photographers. I first discovered her work via Fieldguided more than a year ago and I've been hooked ever since. I just can't get enough of the soft focus, dreamy colour palette and exotic destinations - and her photos of Cape Town make my own city seem magical and exciting. Emily's website is also pretty awesome, definitely up on my list of top favourite web designs. Emily, let me know if you ever need a travelling assistant, ok? ;)
